ADVANCED BODY WELLNESS– MISSION STATEMENT

To provide clients a source of strength and encouragement for their healing journey in a compassionate and joyful encounter.

An integrative approach to healing is becoming increasingly popular. – This includes working with the subtle energy system of the human body that interpenetrates the physical anatomy and extends outwards beyond the physical body. Energy Medicine is a name given to a group of healing modalities which use or interact with the subtle energies of the body (the biofield). A few of these modalities include homeopathy, acupuncture, healing touch, therapeutic touch, Reiki, and Qi Gong.

More than one-third of adults and nearly 12 percent of children in the United States use alternatives to traditional medicine

“Integrative medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative.”

ALTERNATIVE & COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE IN THE NEWS

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS (July 18, 2014) – Energy healing — tapping into the body's own frequencies as a type of alternative medicine — is being taken seriously by health practitioners trained in both eastern and western modalities of medicine. And science is backing up its powers: One 2013 study found that 10 minutes of energy healing was as effective as physical therapy in improving the range of motion in people with mobility problems. UCLA even has en electromyography (EMG) lab that studies electrical activity in the body.

MINNESOTA MONTHLY (May 2010)– Integrative medicine is starting to transform the Western world. And here in Minnesota, it’s blooming like crazy. Our state’s ahead of the curve when it comes to holistic care, according to Bill Manahan, MD, an assistant professor emeritus at the University of Minnesota Medical School and past president of the American Holistic Medicine Association. Manahan, whom peers call “a sage” and “the father of holistic medicine in Minnesota,” recently completed a tour of 20 integrative-medicine clinics across the state and says he was “blown away” by the innovation and success rates he encountered.

“In the last five to 10 years, there’s been a dramatic increase in patient knowledge and patient demand for a broader picture of healing,” says Manahan.

WEB MD (February 1, 2011)–Complementary and Alternative Medicine on the Rise–CAM, which includes such practices as yoga, massage, herbal medicine, and meditation, has been increasing in popularity for many years. In 1990, a third of all Americans had used some form of CAM. By 2002, the number of people who had tried CAM had nearly doubled. The numbers, Su and his colleague Lifeng Li report, remain on the rise.

Washington Post (Dec. 11, 2008)– 38% of Adults Use Alternative Medicine–More than one-third of adults and nearly 12 percent of children in the United States use alternatives to traditional medicine, according to a large federal survey released today that documents how entrenched acupuncture, herbal remedies and other once-exotic therapies have become.
